Description

Golden on the outside, tender on the inside—this air fryer flounder recipe delivers restaurant-level crunch with barely any oil. Choose between the crispy breaded version or a lighter unbreaded option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 11.5 lbs flounder fillets (fresh or thawed)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (for breaded version)
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Olive oil spray or avocado oil spray
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Pat fillets dry with paper towels.
  3. Set up breading station:
    • Bowl 1: beaten eggs
    • Bowl 2: breadcrumbs + salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder
  4. Bread the fillets:
    • Dip in egg
    • Coat in breadcrumb mix
    • Press gently for better adhesion
  5. Spray lightly with oil on both sides.
  6. Place in air fryer basket in a single layer. Don’t overlap.
  7. Air fry for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and internal temp is 145°F.
  8. Serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For the unbreaded version, skip the egg and breadcrumb steps. Season fillets, spray with oil, and air fry for 8–10 minutes.
  • Don’t skip the preheat—it makes a big difference in texture.
  • Best enjoyed immediately, but can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 4–6 minutes.
