Description

Ready to find a simple yet flavorful baked basa recipe perfect for busy weeknights? This recipe blends basa’s delicate taste with aromatic seasonings to create a healthy and satisfying dish.

Spicy baked basa with lemon and garlic offers a low-carb, keto-friendly meal that takes under 30 minutes to prepare. The tender fish filets bake to perfection with a flavorful marinade, making this dish great for casual dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 14 oz (400g) basa filets
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon red chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped ginger
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped garlic
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Heat your oven to 360°F (180°C). Rinse the basa filets and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. Season the Fish: Place filets on a baking tray. Add salt and black pepper, then let them rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Make the Marinade: Mix oil, red chili paste, chopped ginger, garlic, tomato puree, and lemon juice in a bowl until combined.
  4. Marinate: Apply the marinade generously to both sides of the fish filets.
  5. Bake: Put the tray on the middle rack and bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes until the fish flakes easily.

Notes

The fish’s internal temperature should reach 140-145°F (60-65°C) for best results.

Frozen basa needs 5-10 minutes extra cooking time.

You can keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Cut back on chili paste if you prefer milder flavors.

A fish spatula helps transfer the fish from baking tray to plate easily.

The dish pairs well with a fresh salad or sautéed vegetables for a light meal. Add mashed potatoes or rice to make it more filling.
