Your air fryer helps create oysters that are golden-brown and crispy outside, yet tender inside. The recipe works great with canned or fresh oysters, so you can choose what’s convenient. A seasoned coating and the right temperature will give you perfect results every time.
Ingredients
- 1 pound raw shucked oysters (or 2 cans oysters, 8 oz each)
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
- Cooking spray
- Lemon wedges for serving
- Optional: cocktail sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (177°C)
- Drain and rinse canned oysters in cool water if using those. Pat all oysters dry with paper towels
- Set up your breading station:
- Bowl 1: Mix flour, cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper
- Bowl 2: Whisk egg and milk together
- Bowl 3: Put panko breadcrumbs
- Roll each oyster in flour mixture, dip in egg mixture, then coat with panko breadcrumbs
- Arrange breaded oysters in your air fryer basket without overlapping
- Give the coated oysters a light spray with cooking spray
- Cook for 4 minutes, flip the oysters gently and spray again with cooking oil
- Cook another 4 minutes until they turn golden brown
Notes
Make sure your oysters are completely dry before breading.
Work in batches if needed – don’t crowd the basket.
Fresh oysters need to reach the right internal temperature.
Good canned options include Crown Prince Natural, Geisha Fancy, or Roland.
