Description

Make your kitchen feel like a seafood restaurant with this easy air fryer oysters recipe. You can create crispy, delicious oysters without much effort. The results rival any restaurant-quality seafood.

Your air fryer helps create oysters that are golden-brown and crispy outside, yet tender inside. The recipe works great with canned or fresh oysters, so you can choose what’s convenient. A seasoned coating and the right temperature will give you perfect results every time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound raw shucked oysters (or 2 cans oysters, 8 oz each)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cajun seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Optional: cocktail sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (177°C)
  2. Drain and rinse canned oysters in cool water if using those. Pat all oysters dry with paper towels
  3. Set up your breading station:
    • Bowl 1: Mix flour, cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper
    • Bowl 2: Whisk egg and milk together
    • Bowl 3: Put panko breadcrumbs
  4. Roll each oyster in flour mixture, dip in egg mixture, then coat with panko breadcrumbs
  5. Arrange breaded oysters in your air fryer basket without overlapping
  6. Give the coated oysters a light spray with cooking spray
  7. Cook for 4 minutes, flip the oysters gently and spray again with cooking oil
  8. Cook another 4 minutes until they turn golden brown

Notes

Make sure your oysters are completely dry before breading.

Work in batches if needed – don’t crowd the basket.

Fresh oysters need to reach the right internal temperature.

Good canned options include Crown Prince Natural, Geisha Fancy, or Roland.
