  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Optional ingredients to enhance your cajun catfish:

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon-pepper seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Rinse the catfish filets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. In a small bowl, mix your Cajun seasoning blend if you’re making it from scratch.
  4. Place the catfish filets in a large bowl and drizzle them with olive oil.
  5. Generously sprinkle the Cajun seasoning over both sides of the filets, pressing it into the flesh to ensure it sticks well.
  6. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  7. Arrange the seasoned catfish filets on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they don’t touch each other.
  8. Bake the filets in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and has an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  9. While the fish is baking, prepare your chosen side dishes.
